4 Mobile Optimization Mistakes to Avoid

Mobile Optimization

When you are trying to publish your contents through a mobile, it is important that you don’t get too excited and put contents that can create a mess when made visible through mobile phones. It is important that the user feels comfortable when browsing through your content on the handheld devices.

There are few recommendations that should be followed when creating your mobile content to ensure that it works out smoothly and it has achieved mobile optimization.

1. Unsupported content
Most common for video files, there are high chances that content perceived on your mobile will not be seen exactly in the same way in some other device. To include videos and animations, one should use HTML5 standard tags to support the content on all devices. Video embedding is a good support to make videos running on all mobile phones.

You should also need to make sure that the media content including images do not take too much of time to load on mobile devices. To ensure this happens you may use small pictures for display on mobile rather than forcing the mobile user to scroll through the picture to view it completely.

2. Analyzing mobile screen size
With the market of mobiles increasing and millions of people spending most of their time and getting most of their tasks done on mobile, it is important to check that the data rendered on the mobile is visible for naked eyes. One should not feel the need to scroll through the entire page forever to get the content. This happens when there is too much content on the page. The content displayed on a handheld device should be crisp and to the point.

A developer should study the market trend about the most common mobile phones used by the people and the common screen sizes used. This information can be gathered through google analytics. Once the coder has the data, they should be able to test the content on multiple devices to check proper data visibility on the handheld device.

3. Mobile SEO
Many developers are unaware of the role of mobile SEO. Google has ensured that it has maintained the importance of support for mobile SEO as well as the online data. When you don’t have a page to be redirected to a page on your mobile, you will find it easy to throw an error page, usually 404 ERROR.

When you show such pages, the google SEO is observing that and you’re ranking state during searches go down resulting in less and less traffic with time. If you do not have a page for mobile, it is better to redirect your domain to a desktop web page to view rather than displaying an error page.

4. Email contents
Most of the emails are browsed through mobiles, be in personal or professional. It becomes critical to keep in mind that you do not put too much of stress on high creativity but ensure that you display contents that are compatible to both desktops and mobile devices. Large email subjects and unclear unsupported media contents in emails can annoy the user and ignore the information completely.

Try to ensure that the content of the email including the Subject line is crisp and limited to its content to view and clarity.
Other issues experienced by mobile users include slow loading of content, not making the information shareable and many more. But if you keep the above main points inline, your content will ensure that its purpose is served well to the efforts put in.
