How To Create Sitemap For Website And Submit Into Webmaster

Google master is a great way to optimize your website for search engines and direct traffic to it. It’s a free tool that lets you view the statistics for your website and figure out your main keywords. The sitemaps are used by search engines to crawl through your website and index the pages. When you submit your sitemap to Google, you are enabling the search engine to find all the pages of your website and increasing your visibility. This raises the traffic by a significant amount. Here are some easy steps to help you create and submit your sitemap to Google Webmaster.

Generate A Sitemap: Before you can submit your sitemap to Google, you must learn how to create one. The sitemap will list the amount of URL’s your website has just like an index page. There are several online sitemap generators like the XML sitemaps site which you can use to create a sitemap. You just have to submit your URL and it will generate a sitemap for you. WordPress blogs have a plugin like the Yoast SEO that refreshes the sitemap with every post. You can place your sitemap at the footer of the website to make it easier for the search engine to find it.

Submit Your Sitemap: You can submit your sitemap after verifying the website on the Google Search Console. Make sure that your generated sitemap is added to the root of the website as an /sitemap.xml link. Here are some steps to submit your sitemap after you have done that.

Log in to Google Webmaster Tool. You will be taken to your dashboard where you will be able to see the ‘Sitemaps’ option. Click on it and then click on ‘More’ from the drop-down menu to check on all the sitemaps you have uploaded.
You can also choose to add a new one here. Select the option to ‘Add/Test Sitemap’ on the top right corner of the dashboard in order to submit the sitemap you created. Add your XML link and then click on ‘Submit Sitemap’ to proceed further. You will also be able to view the sitemaps which are optimized for Google on this page.

You can also create and submit an image sitemap if your site has a lot of pictures. If you have a video-heavy site you can also generate and add a video sitemap.

Be patient as it will take a little time to see the status of the index for a new website. Once you are able to view the complete index status, you can see which of the URLs Google has chosen to index. Some links are not included if Google feels that the content is too repetitive or violates any policy. You can also see the photo and video sitemaps here.

The process is now complete. Keep submitting new sitemaps every time you update your blog or website to increase visibility. You can also submit your sitemap to other search engines like Bing in order to achieve greater visibility and even higher traffic.
