How To List Website Into Google Webmaster?

Search Engine Optimization is one of the main ways to get more traffic to your website. It is, in fact, the only free method to get more people to visit your website if you have basic SEO knowledge. Signing up for Google Webmaster, also known as Google Search Console, helps you to optimize and understand your website. It helps analyze your website and helps you make smarter decisions and is free to use. Here are some steps that you would have to follow to list your website on Google Webmaster.

Log in to your Google Webmaster account using your Google account to add the website you want to promote.
You will be able to see a red button that says ‘Add Your Site’. Click on it and add the URL of your website in the window that opens. Make sure that you add your full domain name with the ‘www’ portion also. Click on ‘Continue’ to move on.
You can verify that you are the owner of the website through these methods.
You can usually add a new DNS record by visiting the site where your domain is registered or the company you used as your hosting provider.

Meta Tags can be added by making simple edits on the HTML of your website. You can consult your website builder on how to do it or do it yourself if you have basic HTML knowledge. This is used frequently by WordPress blogs. If you select this option, a code will appear in a box below. Copy this code and paste in the head section of index file of your site.
You can also choose to upload a new HTML file onto your website server.

Almost all websites are registered for Google Analytics. You can link both the accounts to seamlessly view both.

All Done: After you have verified your website correctly, wait for a ‘Congratulations’ message. Click on ‘continue’ and move on to the next step.

Access Your Dashboard: The data will start appearing within a few hours of registering your website on Google Webmaster. Your dashboard tells you the amount of traffic you receive and also the most popular keywords on your website. You can also view if there are any errors that prevent the Google Bot from crawling successfully through your page. You will also see your referring links and the number of indexed pages.

Index: You can index your website by submitting your sitemap to Google Webmaster. This will help you reach a wider audience and make your website even more visible to search engines than before. To do this, open your dashboard and select the website. You will see an option to ‘crawl’ on the dashboard to the left. Click on that and then click on ‘Fetch as Google’. You do not have to fill anything in the text box and leave the option as ‘Desktop’ as default. Click on ‘Fetch’ and then click on the option to ‘Submit to Index’ to submit your HTTP response. The next step would be to choose the option to ‘Crawl this URL and its direct links’ and click on GO. Do this maximum 10 times a month to update the search engines.
